It has just been announced that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky, the prequel to Shadow of Chernobyl, will be available for purchase from Steam.
Now If your like me you would be happy to know that although an exact date has not yet been release, Clear Sky should be out and shelves and available from Steam in the first quarter of this year!
Clear Sky is the prequel of the 2007 Shadow of Chernobyl. The story starts with the first group of stalkers to make it to the center of the zone and then goes right up to the moment which started Shadow of Chernobyl.
There are quite a few improvements made from the first game such as
-a fully new version of the X-Ray graphics engine
-better and smarter group enemy AI
-new repairable weapons and armor
-evolution of A-life system
-Direct X10 support
And what seems most attractive to me is the fully playable multiple factions that you can chose, fight with against other factions, and lead to victory or defeat. And they have incorporated this into the A-life system, which means that all AI are active at all times in the game, the war between the Factions is constantly going on and battles are being won and lost all over the map at any time in the game.
If you played Shadow Of Chernobyl you would have used the PDA and seen the global rankings of other Stalkers in their, you would also have noticed that these ranking were always changing and that if you killed one of the Stalkers in the game they disappear from the rankings. Well the A-life system can be viewed as a much more advanced and constantly changing version of that.
PS. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl was a finalist in the Game AI Awards for best Mainstream Game AI and a Technical Innovation in Game AI, and they claim to have greatly improved their AI in this game so I am looking forward to seeing what they have created here!
Also im going to upload some screen shots of the game so go to the photos section and check them out!
