Most people have heard bits and pieces about the coming updates for Team Fortress 2, mostly about the new Medic achievements and unlocks, but in the same update there will also be a new map AND a new gameplay mode called Goldrush.

Here is all the info I have found on the update so far-

Goldrush is both a new map AND mode. It is basically a 'plant the bomb' match but with some awesome twists. One team plays defense while the other team try's to deliver a bomb into the enemy territory, but that is where the similarities stop. The bomb itself is actually in a railroad cart that moves towards the enemy base when team mates are next to it, the more team mates near the cart the faster it moves, but if there is no one near the cart for over 30 seconds it begins to move backwards. But the cart also works as a a resupply point, healing and rearming team mates near it.

There are 3 stages to the Goldrush map. The attacking team has a limited amount of time to get the bomb to the capture points and the end of each stage. If the bomb makes it to the end of the third stage the defending teams base is blown up and the attacking team wins the match.

Here is a fly-through video of the entire new map-

There are 36 new Medic Achievements and 3 upgrades they will unlock at various stages. Once you unlock the first 12 achievements you unlock your first upgrade "The Blutsauger", a new syringe gun that will leach the health from an enemy when it hits them.
After unlocking 24 achievements you unlock "The Critzcrieg", A new type of medigun. Instead of using the ubercharge to create the ultimate defense, once fully charged and activated this medigun becomes the ultimate offense, making all attacks that come from the person your charging CRITICAL HITS!
Once you unlock all 36 achievements you unlock "The Ubersaw", which will absorb the damage done by melee attacks and transform it into an ubercharge. According to Valve 4 hits with the Ubersaw will fully charge your medigun, which is way faster than waiting for it to charge while healing but is far riskier also.

These unlocks will make the Medic a very powerful class in the game but not for long as Valve plans on releasing similar updates for the rest of the classes very soon.

ALSO - at the same time Valve is going to release the new 'Meet The Scout' video!!! Cant wait to see that.

All this will be released by the end of THIS MONTH!

Wah, Goldrush is pretty epic =)

It's good to see the medics out in force too. Now there's a 3 per team minimum (of a team of 12) - the way it should be.
Although since they originally designed the game to have a couple of medics, the demoman was made too strong initially because there were usually too few medics to halt his carnage.
So they nerfed him.

Now the nerf is really beginning to show, and I suspect that's why the demo's are critting a little bit more at the moment.

Ahh, these constant balance tweaks... makes the mind boggle some.

Yeah I'm loving the map, and the excess of medics also!

When I first played after the update I expected everyone to just be playing as medics but I was surprised to only see 2 medics on my team (well 3 after I joined XD). I've also been pretty surprised about how little the medic was used even before the update, since they can be very powerful... in fact the fasted match I ever won was with a team that consisted of 8 medics, 1 heavy, and 1 spy... hehehe.

But I cant wait to see what unlocks they come up with for the other characters, especially the Engineer.

Yeah, improved/extra deployable field devices will be an interesting thing to see.
